Wednesday, May 31, 1995 Section: Local Edition: Final Page: L1 LOTTERY PLAYERS DIALING FOR LUCK WITH NEW CODE David Cox, Herald Capital Bureau Nobody can say that Southwest Florida's new 941 area code has turned into cash for Florida lottery players. But the combination was played more the night before the new area code went into effect than it was in the past few weeks.

Lottery spokesperson Angie Raines said it's impossible to break down whether people from a particular area are playing a certain number combination. But statewide, the 9-4-1 combination had its best showing since May 15th in Saturday's Cash 3 game. Meanwhile, at least one local merchant expects Cash 3 players to begin using the new area code. ``I'm sure they will, because some of them have been playing the 8-1-3 numbers constantly,'' said Cortez Market owner Lou Nassar. The 941 area code went into effect Sunday for the counties of Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, Hardee, DeSoto, Highlands, Glades, Okeechobee, Charlotte, Lee, Hendry, Collier and most of Monroe. Hillsborough, Pinellas and west Pasco counties will continue to use the 813 area code. The Florida Keys will continue using the 305 area code.
